2007 Richard and Karen SISU

This picture is of Richard Hakanen, his wife Barbara and Karen (Mott) Weaver (left to right). The photo was taken at the 2007 reunion. Richard died of cancer the following year. Cancer took Karen in 2013. They both faced their illness bravely and with an admirable attitude. What the Finns call SISU, an ability unique to the Finns. Richard was the son of our Uncle Waco, John and Mary Hakanen's oldest son. Karen was the daughter of Helen (Hakanen) Mott, John and Mary's youngest daughter.
