This photo of Dad and Mom, with Dennie and Wes was probably taken on a week-end that my Dad participated in a first-aid competition. Each mine had a team that would compete by demonstrating responses to various emergency situations. I believe around this time he was a 'Fire-Boss'. That job involved safety responsibilities in the mines. The 'meets' would take place at a fairground stadium. I remember attending Indiana and Ebensburg meets. Dad's brown garb was his team's uniform. It is ironic that his fatal accident occurred a short time later.
