Aunt DeDe one

Edith (Hakanen) Salem is my father's sister. This picture was taken at the annual Hakanen reunion held in Nanty-Glo PA. It is where John and Mike Hakanen's dependence get together. You may think an annual get together is too often but I find each year I learn of one or more of the spouses or one of the younger members and get a new "family" feeling each year. At first we "oldsters" got together and pretty much ignored the youngsters but that changes each year. Of course another critical reason is the fact that our memories keep leaving. This photo is the next to last reunion attended by our aunt DeDe. Her health went pretty fast after this reunion and then she left us. Each time I reach another plateau in my family research, I check some of the things she told me. She gave me good direction. I miss her a lot!
